If I could change anything about Northland it would be to have Julie here. Right now she's a student at Maranatha, and only gets to come up to visit us here at Northland every once in a while.
This weekend Julie came up to surprise Jessica for her birthday! It was so hard for me to make all the plans and preparations for Julie's visit without being able to tell Jess! But somehow it managed to remain a surprise! Julie came up in time to be able to surprise Jess at the Artist Series on Friday night. Then, after Artist Series was over, we had a whole bunch of kids down to the apartment to eat cake and hang out. I think there were 12 people in our apartment!!! :) Jordan kindly broke the ice for everyone by dropping a piece of cake on the floor (Julie will have to post that picture). We sang 'Happy Birthday' to Jess and had her blow out some candles (maybe Julie will post a picture of that on her blog too; they were definitely not traditional birthday candles!). Then, since it was so cold outside we decided to do a science experiment. We boiled some water and took it outside and threw it in the air to watch it evaporate in a big steamy cloud. Very cool!! Then we got everyone back in the apartment and played '3 Men on a Couch' for a while followed by 3 rousing games of 'Mafia'! :) On Saturday we all slept in and went to a basketball game in the afternoon. Then Jordan and I went to our church's Valentines' Banquet (Very fun! It was held at the Four Season's Resort and we got to have prime rib!!! Yummy!) While we were gone, Laura hosted a surprise birthday party for Jess in our apartment. So, when we got back, there were a bunch of girls in there watching 'Ever After.' When that was over, we watched the new 'Herbie' movie. It's super cute--I would highly recommend it to anyone (Julie gave it to Jessica as a birthday gift)! On Sunday, we went to church and Jess and Julie sang a song together (so beautiful!) and then we went to Pizza Hut for lunch. After our customary stop at Walmart, we went home for a few hours and watched 'A Walk to Remember' (which always makes me so sad!) and then sat around and talked for a while. Then, we had to take Julie to Appleton to meet up with her ride to Watertown. :( It was a very fun weekend though!!! I know this post was very long, but I think it's a pretty good summarization of what we did. I just wish I had more pictures to accompany it! Oh well. Thanks for coming, Julie!!! I miss you and love you so much!
