This anecdote is actually not something that I did (for once), but it's just too funny not to share! Two Sundays ago, we were in Minnesota and got to go to the best church in the whole world--Calvary Baptist in Granada! :) It was so fun to be able to go with the whole family and to see all of our friends from church. Unfortunately, the pews at church just aren't quite big enough to fit us all into one pew at the same time, so we had to split up. I don't remember exactly who all sat where, but I do remember that Jason and Julia were sitting directly behind Mom at the end of the pew by the center aisle. As he often does, Jason was one of the ushers that took up the offering about halfway through the song service. He always does a good job doing that (I guess he got lots of practice at BJU), but that particular Sunday morning was very memorable. After Jason finished with the offering, he came back up the center aisle to sit by Julia. But somehow, he accidentally went one pew too far and ended up sitting next to Mom! As Julia (and most of the rest of the church, since we were sitting pretty close to the front) watched, Jason put his arm on the pew behind Mom and started to scoot closer (apparently thinking she was Julia). But then he turned to look at her, and was completely surprised when he saw that it was not Julia that he was sitting by!!! Now, you have to imagine this whole scenario in your mind and realize that it all took place very fast. Right away, Jason got up and switched to the pew behind him; but it was too late! Julia and Mom, along with everyone else who had caught the little scenario were already stifling their laughter! Poor Mrs. Tharp, who was playing the organ offertory, was rather confused, I think! I didn't get to see Jason's face when he realized he was sitting by Mom, but Mom said it was pretty priceless!
Thanks for the laugh, Jas! :)
