So the trip home was not so uneventful....

Our lives are never predictable! Last weekend, Jordan, Jess, Laura, and I all went home. I was so excited!!! :) For the first hour or so, the car was filled with lively conversation as the girls were also very excited. Then, they got settled down and started to fall asleep. The road turned to 4-lane (which is wonderful, because it means we can go faster and not have to worry about teeny towns for an hour or so) and we were cruising along. Then, all of a sudden, 2 cars ahead of us braked really hard to turn. Of course, there was the normal chain reaction where all the cars have to step on their brakes or get in the other lane. Well, the other lane was full, so Jordan stepped on our brakes. We started to slow down, but then the brake pedal suddenly went all the way to the floor!!!! Jordan had to pull over onto the shoulder in order to avoid hitting the car in front of us! He then called his dad, who suggested that he pull over and take a look at the brakes. After we finally managed to get the car stopped (the brakes were absolutely useless!), Jordan discovered that both brakes were leaking really bad. Jordan's dad told us that we should try to take it on into Green Bay and try to find a mechanic there to work on them, so we got back on the road. After about 20 more minutes of very cautious driving, we took an exit and found a gas station with a big, open parking lot and once again managed to get the car stopped. Laura was awake for all of this, I think, but I'm pretty sure Jess was just drifting in and out of consciousness! ;) Jordan and I went in to the gas station and he asked the lady there if she knew of a mechanic nearby. She said that there was one right across the street! So, we walked over there and found a young guy who worked there. He was 21 and had very colorful language, but at least he was nice! :) He said that he couldn't work on the car because their schedule was already full in the shop, but that if we brought the car over, he would give us the tools we needed and tell Jordan what to do to fix it. So we brought the car over and parked it outside the auto shop (thankfully, once again the parking lot was big and open!) and the guy came out and helped Jordan fix it. I don't really know how to explain all that they did. I just know that after that we only had front brakes and they weren't as good, but at least we could get home!! We were so glad that guy helped us out so much! We girls all went into a nearby gas station while we waited. It just so happened they had a nice big comfy lounge with lots of fun magazines, so we weren't too bad off! :) The rest of the trip was very smooth. We made it home around 9, and Mom and Julie were already there. Christa stopped by to say hi and Jason and Julia got there around 10. I've included a picture of Jess and Laura stuffed into the back seat of the car. Jordan warned them to pack lightly. Laura definitely packed very light, but Jessica's version of 'packing light' is a little questionable. ;)

i think the key is lots of little bags that you just sneak in here and there....nyk, nyk nyk. :) thanks again for driving us...i often wonder...midst the doris day songs, stupid stories, and the job of smashing tons of luggage in a tiny trunk...if jordan EVER pictured himself hauling around three girls everywhere he went...hmm...prolly NOT. :) BUT. He's a good sport. :) And the trips are always pretty fun. (for me anyway...haha :)

o i remember those days ;) nice lil trunk... all those good times! except it's nice jess & laura have each other to keep company in the back seat - i always got smashed up with all the stuff surrounding me (but i suppose that was my own fault ;) hahaa).
