Christmas Decor

Why is it that 'decor' sounds so much more beautiful than 'decorations'?

Last Saturday I spent almost the entire day decorating our apartment for Christmas. I have no idea why it takes me so long! I guess I just revel in unwrapping each ornament and finding a place for every little thing in my "Christmas Decorations" boxes. :) I also came to the unhappy realization that I have no Christmas movies. I wanted to watch a Christmas movie while I decorated to get myself in a Christmas-y mood! So, I watched "Serendipity" and "You've Got Mail" because they both have a little Christmas in them. Then last week we bought "Elf" so I will not be completely without Christmas movies next year! :)

The Nativity. Amazingly, I got the whole thing crammed on that little bookshelf!

Our cute lil' tree. :) Karoh is on the ledge behind the tree and he loves the pretty lights.

Here's Franciso's spot. He gets to greet everyone when they first come in the door. ;)

I put red bows on all of our pictures (an idea stolen from Pottery Barn magazine...giving credit where it is due). And of course there is the pretty candle thing that Laura gave us last year. I put a garland in it and some gold ribbon and then put some little decorations and ornaments in it to make it even more festive! Whoever said 'less is more' probably doesn't have nearly as much fun decorating for Christmas as I do! You can never have too many lights, garlands, red bows, gold ribbons, or shiny sparkly ornaments! My credo is: "The more sparkles at Christmastime, the merrier!" Heehee! :D

There's our pretty window all sparkly with lights and glittery gold ribbon on still more garlands! ;) And, of course, I had to do the classic bowl full of ornaments on the coffee table. I wish I had gotten a shot of that, but somehow I forgot. There's a gold square candle in the middle, and then red glass ball ornaments and gold ribbon threaded amongst them. I'm lovin' it!!! :)

Okay, here's a wider shot of the living room. You can see that I was watching "You've Got Mail" at the time. There's a nice glow-y shot of Meg Ryan!! Haahaa!! Can you tell which scene that is in the movie? ;)
