Miscellaneous Spring Break Activities

While we did spend most of our Spring Break here at Northland, we did take a couple of days off of work to take a little trip down to Iowa to visit Jordan's family. My family also went down to Iowa a couple of days later, so we got to see them too. :) Praise the Lord that we all live so close!

We drove down to IA Wednesday night and stayed till Sunday afternoon. We had tons of fun playing games (including Halo, Blokus, Double Solitaire, and Garbage), watching movies, taking walks, visiting puppies, and talking and laughing with the Horaks. Friday night Jordan and I drove to Jason & Julia's house for supper with them and Mom, Julie, and Jess. After a yummy meal we visited Jason's bank and made a stop at the DQ for dessert. Then we watched "The Prestige." Very good movie! If you haven't seen it, you should! On Saturday, the Rabe clan (including my Uncle Bruce) came over to the Horaks' for supper and games. We always have a blast getting our two families together! Anyway, here are a few pictures from our 'adventures'! :)

Thursday afternoon we visited some puppies with Anna who is planning to 'adopt' one.

All of the puppies were adorable (of course!) but this one seemed to have a little more spunk and personality than the others! We're still waiting to hear what Anna's final decision will be, though!

Friday evening, we got to visit Jason's bank in Fairfax, IA. The bank was just built and everything looks great! I especially liked this fish tank which looked like a standing cube of water. There is no cover on it; the water is filled all the way to the top and creates a thin curtain flowing down the sides. Very cool effect!

Saturday night at the Horaks, we played a game of Spoons with the whole fam (or at least as many as we could convince to play!)

Things got a little wild at times...! :)

Here we are playing a game of 'Blokus.' I had never heard of this game until the Horaks got it this past Christmas. It is really fun to play! As you can see, it does take some concentration!

The idea of the game is to play as many of your pieces as possible. The trick is that you must touch a corner of one of your previous pieces, but you may not touch a side of one of your own pieces. It's hard to explain; I guess you'll have to try it for yourself!

A trip to the Horak's would not be complete for Jason if he didn't get to play with the turtles! ;)

Jordan was very lucky to finally get to play on Halo Live! Thanks for playing with him, Grant (it helps keep him out of trouble, ya know)! ;)
