Day Trip on the Motorcycle

One of the things that I absolutely love to do is drive around and see things I haven't seen before. It could be anything...houses, forests, fields, streams, lakes...I don't care what it is, but for some reason the fact that I haven't seen it before holds a great fascination to me! So, ever since we decided to get a motorcycle, I have been thrilled with the prospect of taking rides on random different roads that we've never been on before. I have also started scheming about the neat places that we could visit on the motorcycle (which doesn't cost nearly as much as the car does to drive around!). Canyon Falls was suggested to me by my friend and co-worker Thad Smith. I did a little research and found out that it is about 90 miles north of Northland...and then I talked Jordan into making the trip. That wasn't too hard to do! ;) So, on Thursday morning around 9:30, we got on the motorcycle for our first 'big' trip! We donned our leather jackets, our boots, our helmets, and our gloves; we packed some extra things in our saddle bags; and then we perused our map one more time. Canyon Falls is located about 3 miles north of Alberta, MI, or 10 miles south of L'Anse, MI. We decided that since we would be so close to L'Anse, we might as well stop there as well and get a look at Lake Superior. We ended up going to L'Anse first and taking some pictures and getting a bite to eat before going back down to Canyon Falls. The Lake was beautiful! We were both surprised how clear it was! L'Anse was a pretty cute little town, too. :)

Canyon Falls turned out to be completely worth the trip up there! The falls were amazing; the forest was gorgeous and green; the sky was clear and blue; the water was clean and sparkling; the rocks were smooth; and the canyon was surprisingly deep. The pictures don't even begin to do it justice, but it might give you an idea of what it was like!

Its kinda different to think of you on a motorcycle. How do you like riding? From what my mom tells me riding to a destination no matter how long can hurt "you know where". It must feel nice to just stand sometimes! Hope you had a safe trip and cant wait til you come visit next time. Hopefully it wont be until new years eve!

Sounds like you had a nice trip! I love to go see new places also. Today we went to Colonial Williamsburg with 2 couples from you church; we had a great time! Even though we go there often we always see and do something new.

I can't believe how clear the water is up there. Beautiful!
