Grandma's Visit

We had a wonderful visit with Grandma this past weekend! She made the drive up from Illinois on Friday, and made a stop at Maranatha to see Julie. Then on Saturday she drove up to Northland to see us! We must have had a lot to catch up on, because Grandma and I spent the first 3 hours or so after she got here just talking! After supper, we went to the Grind (yum!). On Sunday, Grandma went to church with us and then treated us to Pizza Hut (one of our favorites!). Then she went grocery shopping with us at good ol' Wal-Mart. After we got home, Grandma and I busied ourselves making salsa from some tomatoes that had been given to me and then making some apple pie filling (which we froze for me to use later)! It was such a fun afternoon spent together in the kitchen! :)

All of the pretty green things that went into the salsa: jalapeno peppers, green onions, green bell peppers, cilantro...there was also garlic cloves and lime juice.

After all our hard work, we decided to use a couple apples to make a little applesauce which we ate while we watched "Ever After." (Such a sweet movie! Cinderella has always been my favorite fairy tale, and I love the movie "Ever After" because it makes it seem like the story could be real! I know, I'm such a girl! Haha!) Anyway, Grandma left Monday morning (after meeting a Very Important Someone before his first class of the day...!) to drive back home.

I'm so glad she was able to make the trip up here! It was a wonderful weekend of sharing memories and catching up on the current events in our lives! Thank you for your love and encouragement, Grandma! We love you!
