Well, this was the first morning of this winter that we woke up with snow on the ground. I suppose that it is inevitable that I feel a tinge of dread...it's as though there's no hope of turning back to the warm days once you get a snow. From now until May our idea of 'warm days' will be sadly distorted. However, there is still a small part of me that feels excitement at the first sight of snow. After all, it is kinda pretty, and it promises that Christmastime is not far away, and that we can look forward to warm cozy evenings and trips back home to see family.
With today being Thursday, November 8th, we are 2 weeks from Thanksgiving. I have to admit, I am not too excited about Thanksgiving this year. Once again, Jordan and I will be spending Thanksgiving here at Northland. We will not be seeing either of our families until Christmastime. Now, honestly, I suppose that's not so bad. I mean, we did get to see them all just last month! But I think that what makes it hard for me is just that I know that everyone else in both of our families will be getting together...and we will be the ones missing from the circle. That makes me sad. That's what makes me almost want to skip Thanksgiving and head straight for Christmas. I just get tired of always being the ones that 'can't make it' to the family gatherings. So now you see how undeserving I am of the great blessing we will have next year of being so close to our families! I can't wait for that! God really is so good to us! And, don't worry, yes, we are going to celebrate Thanksgiving! ;) But, I still might put up my Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving...not in an effort to skip Thanksgiving, but just to make Christmas seem closer. :)
And, to commemorate the arrival of the Thanksgiving holiday, I thought I would attempt to publish daily "Thankful Lists." Remember, I did say "attempt" so if I miss a day, I will have an 'out'! ;) Okay, these will just be random lists of 10 things I am thankful for that day...and I am going to try to be specific, and not just say that I am thankful for my family and friends (although I am thankful for my family and friends! Haha!).
So, I am going to start working on my first list so I can get it posted before the end of the day! :)
