Spring Break Overview

I don't remember if I already mentioned this, but last week was Spring Break here at Northland. For me, the only indicator that there was a 'break' going on was the eerie stillness of the office. Not very many things require maintenance when there's no one on campus! (Imagine that!) So, we had a pretty 'normal' week last week, except that we did indulge in the luxury of sleeping in about an hour longer than usual. That was nice! :)

So what did we do with our break? Well, Jordan worked diligently on school work all week long. And I took up basketball! Yes, you read that right! Haha!!! Not like 'real' basketball, just shooting around in the gym. I am by no means good at it, but it has been a fun workout...and it's exciting to see my percentage get better with each 'practice.' You may be wondering how Jordan ever convinced me to get into basketball. Well, the first Sunday of Spring Break, as we were driving home from church, he asked me if I wanted to go up to the gym with him for a little while. I rather reluctantly agreed. I generally stay away from the gym (except as a spectator for sporting events) in an attempt to avoid embarrassment. ;) But Jordan reassured me that we would practically have the whole place to ourselves, so I consented. Well, like I said, I am not a very good shot at all. I definitely got a good work out by just chasing after my missed shots!!! Then I decided to try to make a 3-pointer. Whatever made me think I could possibly make a 3-pointer, I'll never know! It takes everything I have to just get the ball to the hoop from behind the 3-point line, let alone aiming it to go into the hoop! So after a couple hopeless attempts, Jordan said he would give me $5 if I could make one (I think he was mocking me!). So, I kept working at it until one finally went in. He renewed the bet and I made another one! Then, he lowered it to $1, and changed the bet so that I would get $1 if I could make a 3-pointer before he made three 3-pointers; and if I didn't make one, he could take away one of my dollars. Well, sometimes the impossible happens...I went on a streak and ended up with $15! At that point I thought I better call it quits before I lost my hard-earned money! ;)

Another exciting thing we did last week was make a trip to Green Bay on Friday afternoon! :) Ah, yes, shopping.... It was refreshing. I got to check out a new store. It's called Steve & Barry's.
It's a clothing store. Everything in there was $8.98! A pretty unique idea! There were some good things there, but I had trouble finding anything in the right sizes! :P So, I guess it'll be one of those hit-and-miss stores. I can definitely see myself finding a lot of great deals there; it just wasn't happening last weekend.
Of course we had to hit the mall. I love the mall! :D I covered a lot of ground there this weekend. I was really hoping to find a new outfit to wear to Jordan's brother's wedding in 3 weeks. Unfortunately, everything just seemed so expensive. How much do you think is a good price for a dress? Maybe it's just been too long since I spent $50 on a single outfit...I just couldn't bring myself to do it. So, not really any luck at the mall; but that's okay. I just love being there. :) I did purchase one thing before we left the city: a new pair of athletic pants for my excursions to the gym! ;) Found those at TJ Maxx, another very favorite store. Then for supper, we definitely splurged. We had heard that there was a new Mongolian grill in Green Bay, and thought it would be fun to try it out. Jordan had been to one before, but I never had.
I had NO IDEA what to expect, but I really loved it!!! The place is called HuHot. It is fabulous!!! :) I took a picture of the grill because I was just so enthralled by the way their system worked. Heehee! I'm sure those guys were like, "O brother, another picture-taking weirdo-head!" It is kinda funny, because I would never have been brave enough to take a picture of those guys doing anything under normal circumstances, since they were all wearing tattoos and such! They definitely did a good job cooking up our food though!!

It really sounds like you had a great time. Thanks for sharing what you did. We went to a mongolian grill one time. But this one looks better.
