Weekend with Mom & Jess

With Macy around, my blogging has definitely started to fall behind! Life gets really busy when you stick a puppy in the middle of it! Haha! :)

Last weekend Mom & Jessica came to visit us! They had not been able to come down and visit us in our new home yet, so it was really fun to be able to show them around where we live now.

They got here on Saturday morning, so we waited around together for Jordan to get home with Macy. It was so exciting to see Macy for the first time and to play with her in our back yard! :) Jordan had a work appointment that afternoon, so after he and Macy left (he took Macy along), we girls piled in the car to go shopping at Jordan Creek Town Center (a nice big mall here in WDM). We were getting pretty hungry, so we got a little sustenance from Panera before hitting the shops. It was so fun to shop together! Later, we went home to make supper (Teriyaki Marinated Grilled Chicken with White Rice and Veggies), and then around 9 that evening Jordan's cousin Tyson came by and we had some dessert with him. Of couse, Macy was the star of the show all evening! ;)

On Sunday, we went to church at Fellowship Baptist Church in Des Moines. We have been visiting there pretty regularly over the last couple of months. After church, Jordan had some more work appointments that he took Macy to, so we girls went back to the mall (since we hadn't gotten around to ALL of the stores the first time around!). :) We had fun walking through Pottery Barn Kids and reading some of the cute books that were in there - it's such a fun store! We also hit some good sales at New York & Company, which is probably my favorite clothing store! :) Sunday evening Mom took us out to eat at HuHots Mongolian Grill, which is probably Jordan's favorite restaurant right now! Mom & Jess had never been to a Mongolian Grill before, so it was fun to be a part of their experience there!! They both liked it a lot...Mom kept saying, "This is such a fun place!" Jess and I both tried to eat our entire meals with chopsticks; we only cheated every once in a while. ;)

Monday morning, Mom & Jess & I went to Panera for a little breakfast and some free WiFi (since Jess couldn't get logged onto our internet at our apartment...a kink Jordan will have to iron out sometime). After a couple hours at Panera, we thought we would just go over to the mall by our apartment (Valley West Mall) to look at Payless for some good deals on shoes...but of course we ended up walking the mall for a couple more hours! Haha! We were such shopaholics all weekend!!! We finally went home to rest for a little while before Mom & Jess would have to go home. Jordan and Macy were home from work for a little bit, so we all went for a walk. After Jordan & Macy left again for more work (Macy is quite the 'working dog,' let me tell you!), Mom & Jess got packed up and then decided to go eat at Carlos O'Kelly's before heading home. Carlos O'Kelly's is just a couple blocks from our apartment, so I went along with them!! It was SO yummy! We all just love Mexican food, so we were in our element! ;)

I always miss having the whole family together at times like last weekend! All weekend long, we would see something or think of something, and say, "Jason would get a kick out of that!" or "This is something Julie would wear!" etc. But I am so glad that Mom & Jess could come a spend a few days with us, and I hope they can do it again soon! That was so fun! :)

If you've done any shopping lately, you've probably noticed how popular these sweater dresses and leggings are becoming. Jess & I decided to try some on and model them for Mom. At first we were trying to convince her that we seriously liked them...she was so concerned about our sanity, I think! Haha! In the end, we all got a good laugh out of these outfits!
