That’s right, Pheasant Season opened here in Ioway last weekend! If you missed it, I am so sorry; but don’t feel too badly since Opening Day was rather anti-climactic (well, at least for us). Apparently a record-breaking winter (for being snowy, long, and cold) mixed with a record-breaking spring (i.e., the 500-year flood) have done a number on the pheasant population. We spent the weekend with Jordan’s family over by Cedar Rapids, and Jordan went out with his brothers and several other guys (I think there were 7 of them total), but they only got 2 birds. Not too good for 6 hours of hunting! :(
While Jordan was out with the guys, I stayed home with Mom Horak, Anna, and Macy and we played games, and played with Macy, and made pink goop, and made brownies, and played with the Sherwin-Williams paint-a-room feature on their website, and just had a generally very nice time! :)
When the boys got back from hunting, Jordan did a little fundamental hunting-training with Macy. This training involved shooting guns with her outside (We’ve always kept her inside up to this point so that she wouldn’t develop a flinch. She did very well!) and allowing her to handle her first real pheasant wing (I know, that’s disgusting!). Jordan was encouraged that she is right on track to becoming a great hunting dog! :)
Later in the afternoon, Andria came over and we girls made a trip into town to get some necessities at Wal-Mart and to do a little girl-time shopping at the mall. Unfortunately, we were very rushed, but we still managed to find a really cute top for Andria at Maurices. It was a lot of fun! :) Jason, Julia, & Kaden came over for supper that night. Kaden was cute (as always!) and even let me play with him quite a bit! :) Jason got to spend some time shooting guns outside with the guys and Julia played Blokus with us girls! After Jason & Julia left with Kaden, we girls got out our nail-paraphernalia and got some mani’s and pedi’s done. :) Sunday morning we decided to extend our girl-time by getting up a little earlier and straightening our hair. It was fun to see the different style on Andria & Anna! They looked very pretty! :)
Andria didn’t come back home with us after church that afternoon because she had More Important Things to do, but we were okay with that because we knew she’d be having a Great Time with her Friends in Monticello! Grandma and Pa came over in the afternoon to have some apple crisp with us to celebrate Jordan’s birthday. I always love getting to see them! They gave us some more things for Macy (as if she isn’t spoiled enough already – Ha!). Now she has a nice training collar, a retractable leash, and a new ball that she absolutely loves because we can stick a treat inside of it and then she can roll it around until the treat falls out! :) Before heading home that night, we stopped at JaJu’s for a short visit. We played with Kaden a little until he had to go to bed. He showed us his amazing piano skills on his electronic keyboard! I was so proud. Then Julia and I chatted about paint colors for our house a little. I can’t wait to paint!! :) But, I decided that it’s going to be really hard to figure out paint colors until we’re actually in the house. So, Julia is just going to have to come over and visit us in our new house ASAP!! ;) By the time we got home that night, we were both pretty tired. We were pretty cold too, since it was really windy out and there were snow flurries coming down. :P We had such a great weekend, though! Now there’s just 8 more days until we close on the house! Yippeeeeeee!!!! :D
