We had this weekend all planned out. And now it's completely changed. I had booked a wedding for this weekend to play piano for back in November. Then, last night, my bride emailed me and said she wouldn't be able to pay. I have made it my policy that I must be paid on or before the event date for the events I play for. I just don't want to get myself into the place where I have to make awkward collection calls in an attempt to chase down money when I no longer have any leverage. So, I stuck to my guns and told her that without the money in hand, I would not be able to perform at her wedding. She said she understood, and did not expect me to keep my end of the deal. So, that was the end of that. I'm thankful that she at least was honest and told me she would not be able to pay instead of waiting until the wedding day! I wonder what she's going to do for music? Maybe play a CD over the sound system? Oh, well; I was disappointed, but maybe it's for the best, since Jordan's weekend has also been completely overturned. He was supposed to speak at a youth retreat this weekend. It was going to be a Friday-Saturday thing, and he was filling in on just a week's notice for whoever was originally supposed to speak (I'm not sure why that guy backed out). Jordan put in a ton of time preparing for his sessions in the evenings and during his spare time between work meetings. Then, last night he got the flu. :( Today has been a really rough one for him, so he had to cancel his Friday night session, and I'm pretty sure he's not going to be up to doing his sessions tomorrow either. This bug has really laid him low.
So, here we are...Jordan & Macy are sleeping/lounging on the couch and watching college wrestling. I'm just hanging out, hoping I won't get sick (Flu is bad enough, but flu with pregnancy?! That sounds pretty uncomfortable...to put it nicely.) and that Jordan will soon be back to his old self.
It's always such a weird feeling when you have a weekend all packed with activity and then everything comes to a screeching halt, leaving the days wide open. I hope I'll be able to get a lot of reading done. My stack of 'mommy books' has had a growth spurt...Julia lent me a few, and I made a trip to the library! ;) I also have some videos I haven't taken the time to edit that I would really like to get posted, so maybe I'll get that done too. And (am I getting too ambitious?), I'd also like to get a letter or two written that have been hanging over my head.
Here's a picture of Macy and Jordan studying this week (well, Jordan was studying...I think Macy was drifting in and out of sleep). Macy is so attached to Jordan! Wherever he is, Macy wants to be and whatever he's doing, Macy wants to be involved in. She's been his companion all day today while he's been sick and I've been at work. ;)
That became a pretty ramble-y post! ;)
