Our Lil' Macy Dog

It's been a long time since I've blogged about Macy!  She's eight months old now, and just as cute as ever (or at least we think so)!  ;)  She definitely keeps things interesting and is a bright spot in our days!

It's been fun to see how Macy has established her own routines.  At night, she sleeps in a little bed next to Jordan's side of the bed.  When Jordan's alarm clock goes off in the morning, he pushes the snooze button once and then gets up at the second alarm.  Macy has learned this, and now she waits for that second alarm.  As soon as it sounds, she jumps up and puts her front paws on the bed so she is all stretched out trying to reach Jordan to give him his morning licks.  :)  Jordan usually pets her for a little bit, but then as soon as he says, "Do you want to go outside?", Macy rushes to the bedroom door so she can lead the way downstairs and outside.  She has learned a lot of words like "upstairs/downstairs" and "outside" and "go potty" and "sit" and "up" and "kennel" and "food" and "down" and "off" and "go get it" and "give" and "bring it" and "stand."  She also recognizes (though still seems to be working on connecting the meanings) of "Jordan" or "Jordan's home" and "toy."  There may be some others I can't think of....  She loves ice cubes.  Whenever she hears Jordan or I get ice from our dispenser on the front of our freezer, she comes running and sits down looking up expectantly for her ice cube.  It usually doesn't matter what she was doing - sleeping, chewing, or eating - she always comes running for an ice cube.  Another funny thing she does is carry around shoes (or slippers).  She hasn't chewed or destroyed any (yet), she just seems to want to carry them around and give them to us.  Sometimes it's nice, but sometimes it's a little annoying when Jordan has three pairs of shoes out and they all end up sitting on the coffee table because Macy brought them to him one by one!

I could go on and on with Macy-isms and anecdotes, but I'll use restraint!  ;)  Here's a few pictures of Macy from the last month or so:

I bought this toy for Macy at Gordmans' one day after she had finished destroying a pair of Jordan's old sandals we had given her to chew on (I know, everyone says not to give your dog old shoes, but we did it anyway, and she thankfully doesn't seem to have developed any bad habits as a result!).  She loved this thing!  It was a rubber 'tire' with a rope in the middle of it, so it was great for chewing and tug-of-war (her all-time favorite game).  But, one day Macy got it in her head to destroy the tire.  Within 24 hours, the tire was in hundreds of little pieces that I picked up for the next couple weeks.  She then proceeded to chew her way all the way through the rope.  What a crazy dog!  We tried to tell her that we couldn't play tug-of-war when the tire was in pieces, but she didn't seem to understand....

Last weekend, Jordan's family came to visit us and brought their little 5-month-old English Cocker along.  Macy and Mia had so much fun playing together for two straight days!

Sharing the love

Awe, somebody just wants to play

So pretty

Say what?

I love her curly ears!

Notice she still has the black lipstick!  Haha!

I've taken a ton of video footage of Macy over the last couple months, since I've been intending to do a post about her and just haven't gotten around to it.  So, I tried to whittle it down (it was almost 20 minutes worth!) and ended up with a nearly 6-minute video!  Sorry it's so long!  ;)  In this video, Macy leaps off the couch for a fetch, jumps up into Jordan's arms (one of her newest...and possibly cutest...tricks!), sits, lays down, stands (which she is getting better and better at doing!), 'talks' (this is a combination of howling and other gutteral noises that she emits with a little instigation from Jordan), and plays with tennis balls (Jordan's been working with her on doing multiple fetches in a row.  I especially like it when Jordan covers Macy's eyes before throwing the ball and then points out to her where it is.  The moment of recognition on Macy's face is so cute!)  Oh, and then at the end, Jordan has Macy howl with a tennis ball in her mouth, which always cracks me up!
