Afternoon at Badger Creek

Yesterday was a gorgeous day. Jordan asked me what I wanted to do, and I said it would be so fun to go to a park with a lake or something where the dogs could run around and swim and we could just enjoy being outdoors. But, I was thinking we would never be able to find a place that wasn't overcrowded since it was a Sunday afternoon! Then Jordan thought of going to Badger Creek. It is a large public hunting land with a nice lake and some picnic areas set up. Jordan had only been there during hunting season before, and figured it might be a little busy this time of year, but hopefully better than the Des Moines parks. So, Jordan went to the grocery store for some meat to grill and I got things packed up at the house.

When we arrived, we were shocked not to see any other vehicles there! We stopped at the first picnic pavilion, which was at the top of a grassy hill. The landscape was so pretty! The dogs thought it was great to run around in the cover while Jordan grilled the meat on our cute little portable grill. :) I played with Serena and took pictures, haha!

Our little bambina happy as can be out in the sunshine!

After we ate, we packed things up and drove down to the lake. There were a few people down there putting boats in, but not many. We found a dock and pier that we could have all to ourselves. The dogs had a blast! The water felt so good! It was SUCH a fun way to spend the afternoon!

Macy is getting so good at jumping off the dock to do water retrieves! She just lays out and goes for it!

Rocky is 3 months old, but already does water retrieves really well!

Serena LOVES splashing in the water! (I love that you can see her two bottom teeth in this picture! What a silly grin she has now!)

Daddy makes everything WAY more fun!

Our family (once again, Serena wasn't looking AT the camera...but at least she wasn't looking the other way!)

I love it when it all comes together like this.
