Serena Turns ONE!

Our little baby girl is one year old!! She got to celebrate her big event over the course of two weeks. It all started a week before her birthday when Grammie & Aunt Jessie stayed at our house before flying to Phoenix to visit Aunt Julie. They brought some birthday presents for Serena and we had fun watching her open them!

Serena with her present from Grammie. The bag was almost as big as she is! ;)

She loved the piggy bank! Heehee!

Aunt Jessie gave Serena a purse with lots of neat things inside of it!

On their way home, Grammie & Aunt Jessie brought another present for Serena. This one was from Aunt Julie! There were some cute outfits in it (that hopefully she will grow into someday, haha!) and some new books! Serena is totally in love with books, so she was very interested in these new ones! Mommy is really happy Serena has some new books, too, haha! I love reading to her, but when it's The Foot Book for the 15th time in one afternoon....well...it just gets a little old! ;)

Great Grandma Rabe came for a short visit the day before Serena's birthday, so she was there to see the birthday girl that morning! Serena thinks GG Rabe is really fun and always gives her lots of smiles! She received some absolutely DARLING dresses from GG Rabe!

Good Morning, Starshine! Serena with Great Grandma Rabe on Serena's birthday! (Serena's bedhead cracks me up!)

I blew up a bunch of pink balloons to make things a little more festive. :) I hung a banner, too, but I don't think I got any pictures. Oh well, we'll be seeing it on many more birthdays to come, haha! ;) Serena spent the day playing (like usual, ha). After her nap, we had her birthday cake. It was the first sweet treat she'd ever had, and she was in love! She poked it once or twice with her finger, and after licking that, she started digging in with both hands! It didn't take long for her to get sick of it, though! After that, we sat her in the kitchen sink to clean her up before taking her to church! We ran out of time for presents, so we ended up having her open those on Sunday.

Yay for birthday cake! :D

Mommy & Daddy gave Serena a stacking toy, a shape sorter, and a Baby Einstein handheld 'radio' that plays several classical songs. The radio was a HUGE hit right off the bat, but she'll be 'growing into' the other toys soon, I'm sure!

Opening presents from Mommy & Daddy

We celebrated Serena's birthday one more time the following weekend at Grandpa & Grandma's house. Uncle Luke & Aunt Anna, Uncle Daniel & Aunt Andria and Caroline, and Grandma & Pa were all there. She got more presents: blocks, outfits, books, etc., but I didn't get pictures. :P However, we did get a picture of her after she had enjoyed her 'birthday cake' which consisted of whipped cream, blueberries, and strawberries! She loved it! Especially when we let her have the spoon! ;)
