Six years ago this past weekend, we were on a "camp-out" with our youth group from Norway, MI. This year, the youngest kids in that group are graduating! Does that make me feel old? Um, yes.
Given that it was early June in northern WI, it ended up being pretty chilly that weekend and we had to modify our camping plans. We opted to "camp out" indoors after all our outdoor activities. I hosted the teen girls in our apartment. Quite honestly, I was relieved to be sleeping indoors (sleeping outside does not exactly excite me). ;) I still remember pulling a bunch of ticks off myself and the other girls. Uuuuhhhhggg!!! Still makes me shiver to think of it!! I hate those things!! :P

I loved those kids! All their dorky-ness and sweetness and their striving to figure out their world and God and make sense of their individual situations in life. I learned a lot from them and hardly a day goes by that I don't think of one of them and pray for them. Some of them I've kept up with, others I've lost contact with, but they'll always hold a special place in my heart and in my own life story.
