Back to Posting

It truly is amazing how God works! A couple of months ago, my brother and sister-in-law (Jason and Julia) moved down to the Cedar Rapids, IA area, about 30 minutes from where Jordan's family lives! When the 4th of July started to roll around, Jordan and I made plans to go to Iowa to visit his family. My mom and sisters also made plans to go down there to visit Jason and Julia. Julia's mom from Dallas, TX, also managed to get time off and a ticket bought so she could visit Jason and Julia too! The last time we were all together was at our wedding a year ago! :) On Sunday before the 4th, we all met at the Horak's for supper and a very fun-filled evening. There was never a moment that lacked for at least some form of entertainment. Of course, Jordan and Luke were only too glad to pull out their guns so all the girls could have a chance to shoot a real gun. :)

Jordan and Anna

Poor Anna gets teased by her big brothers all the time! Maybe if she wasn't so cute she wouldn't get teased so much! :)

Mom and Jessica

Jessica getting a ride in the tire swing. If you are afraid of amusement park rides, don't ever get into a tire swing and let the Horak boys give you a push! They love bragging about the time they sent a kid to the hospital because of their swing-ride (I'll let Luke tell that story at his own discretion). I think Jess had a good time, though! :D

Jess, Anna, and I all had a good time catching fireflies and putting them into an empty waterbottle. I think we had over 30 of them in there! Poor little guys, they all got blown up when Jordan and Grant got a hold of them and put a firework in their bottle. :(

Highlights of the night:
~Julie and Jason were playing catch, and Jordan suddenly got the bright idea that he would intercept the ball in mid-air. Julie is not exactly the world's greatest baseball pitcher, so Jordan figured it would be an easy grab. He did catch the ball...right on his forehead! Apparently Julie was a little startled by Jordan's sudden movement and unknowingly threw the ball a little harder and straighter than she had been! Of course, Jordan said it didn't hurt, but he did have the imprint of the baseball threadings on his forehead!! :D

~The fireworks entertainment. Honestly, the show was sensationally...um, funny! Jason had a very interesting technique for holding his fireworks; the only problem was, he seemed to struggle with letting go of the fireworks! One instance in particular, he ended up getting a shower of sparks falling all over him. One of the sparks landed on his shirt, so Jordan's dad told Jason that his shirt was on fire! What followed was so funny that it still makes me laugh a little to myself as I am thinking about it. Jason did a hillarious little dance followed by a 'stop, drop, and flop' maneuver! :D

Jordan and I had a great time with his family. They are so special and so giving! We love you guys!
