Married Life at Bible College

Just an anecdote from Monday evening:

Jordan and I were out taking our ‘nightly walk’ around the ‘Pooper Dome’ (those of you who are unfamiliar with that term/have never been to Northland, don’t ask!) around 10:45. As we came out the gravel road behind Maintenance that heads towards the Men’s Dorm, one of the guys that works Security here at Northland rode by on his bike (apparently on his nightly rounds to lock up buildings, etc.). We happened to be holding hands (a major offense for unmarried students), and it was a good 15 minutes past dorm lock when all the students are supposed to be inside, and it was the first day of class, and it was dark out...I suppose we looked a little suspicious! He rode past us only 20 feet away or so and kept on riding down to the end of the parking lot. Then we saw him slow down, kinda circle around a couple times, and then head back toward us. I could just sense the hesitation in his movements! For those who are familiar with Northland’s security guards, this kid really fit the prototype (think Barney Fife!). So finally, he came up to us the second time and very nervously began to fumble for his words asking our names, etc. Jordan had mercy on him enough to tell him that it was okay because we were married. The guy (who will remain nameless for his own protection...but let me just say that he is an upperclassman!) made an awkward attempt at friendliness and then bid us goodnight and rode off in the opposite direction. I suppose it was a little while before his adrenaline slowed down! Haha! I did feel a little bad for him...he obviously struggled a little deciding whether or not to say anything...and then out of a sense of duty he confronted us...and then it was all for nothing (and he probably felt pretty embarrassed)!

So, I am thinking that I need to start looking more grown up or something...any suggestions? ;)

o my! that's funny :) poor guy - good for him, though to get up enough courage TO confront - just think if that WAS an "illegal" couple ;) WEIRD!!!!

Funny!!! That Northland security definitely dropped a few notches when my handsome, cool, popular husband left the Head of Security position! =) Tee hee! Love the name - POOPER DOME! Never heard that, but know exactly what you're talking about! Ahh . . . I love Northland!

What a cute story! I can't imagine what it would be like to be married and living back at Northland. It would be so weird! I am glad things are going well for you up there.
