Celebrating Thanksgiving

We had a marvelous Thanksgiving meal with the Suiters and with a handful of college students on Thursday! The food was delicious, and the fellowship was very encouraging. Jordan was happy that Dr. Suiter had football on most of the time! ;) We got to watch part of the Packers game. It was a good day to be a Packers fan! Heehee! I got to bring a couple of dishes along. I brought a salad and a broccoli casserole.

They both turned out great! I was so glad! :) I will try to put the recipes up on my recipe blog as soon as I get a chance. The salad turned out especially pretty...I made it with spinach leaves, apple slices, and pomegranate seeds, and then sprinkled some grated Parmesan on top and served it with poppyseed dressing. It was so pretty on Mrs. Suiter's white plates! :)

So, overall it was a very encouraging day. It was also quite relaxing; which was good, especially since Friday morning we were up by 5 and on the road to Green Bay with some friends by 6! The trip down there is about 1 1/2 hours, so we weren't there insanely early, but we were able to get lots of good shopping done before 11. I was so impressed with Jordan for agreeing to such an excursion! :D We grabbed some lunch while we were there, and then headed back home. I have to admit that even though I would have loved spending a few more hours shopping around Green Bay, it was still very nice to be home by 1! And it was also nice to know that we still had a whole day (Saturday) left to do whatever we wanted!

Although I wanted to be with family so badly this Thanksgiving, I am so thankful for the way we celebrated the holiday. It was nice to relax a little! And Jordan got so much done with his school work, that it really made it worth it to stay home. I know it was the best choice for us this year! In the midst of all my begging him to play Cribbage with me and watch movies and our going over to watch football with Ross and going shopping in Green Bay, Jordan was very disciplined and productive! And he still made time to have some fun with me! What a nice boy! :D

Your food dishes looked very tasty even though I'm not a broccoli fan. I'm glad you had nice Thanksgiving weekend. TJ and I are usually big shoppers on black Friday as well, but this year we only went to one store.
