Snow & Baking

Well, we still have a lot of snow on the ground. I took a picture of the front of our apartment the day after the main big storm hit:

We've had a little snowfall since then...just enough to keep the top of the snow looking clean and white! :) There were several snowmen built on campus by the apparently bored college students. One in particular was over 15 feet tall! As you can imagine, he wasn't really very shapely! I didn't take a picture of him. I didn't think he was very cute, just tall. Jordan thought he was awesome. Go figure. I liked this one:

He was probably the 2nd tallest snowman on campus after the storm. Jordan said he was probably over 8 feet tall. He was so shapely and cute! :) Of course, by Wednesday both of the snowmen had lost their heads. I never understood why people think that is fun...or even funny. I hate the line in the song "Winter Wonderland:"

"We'll have lots of fun with Mr. Snowman
Until the other kiddies knock him down!"

Why is it just a universally accepted fact that the other kiddies will knock the snowman down? It really bothers my perfectionist side, let me tell you!

Although it may not sound like it, I have been thinking about other things besides the snow and the snowmen. ;) I have been putting together treats for our campus kids. I just dropped them off at the mail room this morning. Although it is a rather large project, it is one that I thoroughly enjoy!! I made 10 bags this year...we have 7 campus kids and then I also made one for another friend, one for Jessica's boyfriend, and one for someone else...but I don't want to ruin that surprise! ;) Heehee! I baked up a storm over the last 3 days in preparation for this endeavor: Chocolate Revel Bars, Chocolate Cranberry Oat Bars, Puppy Chow, Mocha Truffles, and Sugar Cookies.

So now we have lots of left-over goodies at our house if any of you want to drop by!! I also have hot chocolate, tea, coffee...whatever warm drink makes you feel happy and chatty! ;)

sounds like a lot of fun jen :) i'm so glad you do that -- i remember campus kids and getting fun bags in the mail from mrs. coats during holidays. you did a lot of yummy baking!!!! i would definitely stop by if i could!!!
...and don't worry, our snowmen all get knocked down here too (and last year, a guy got his clavicle broken by trying to tackle one - which he found out after the fact that it wasn't as soft as it looked after our ice storm!).
