My Best Friend's Wedding

Christa was a radiantly beautiful bride on her wedding day, December 21st! I was so excited to be her matron of honor and stand with her as she got married!

Christa has been my closest girl friend for the last 7 years. She has been an encouragement and blessing to me in so many ways. We make quite a funny pair...she's about 8" taller than I am...but we have made many wonderful memories together over the years!

Isn't this a cute picture with the way they're smiling at each other?
am so thankful for how God works things out in our lives! Christa & Dan's 'story' is very unique, but I am certain that Dan is the best fit for Christa! :) It was so fun to watch him and Christa together...they are a perfect match! I always imagined (in my idealist mind) that we would be together more during our dating/engaged years and that we would go on double-dates, etc. Instead, the first time that I met Dan was the day before he married Christa. Of course, I had heard so much about him by that time that I felt like I already knew him; but I still feel a little regret for the many miles that separate us all now that we've 'grown up!'

Julie was the wedding coordinator and the bride's hairdresser. She did such a great job keeping everything moving smoothly! And she looked so cute while she did it! ;)

Christa wanted her hair to look like Marianne's on a certain scene of the movie "Sense and Sensibility." Julie did a beautiful job with it...Christa looked gorgeous!

Tara and Mrs. Jenson did the decorations at the church. Outside, they lined the sidewalk with these unique candles. They were hollowed-out ice 'buckets' and they glowed so pretty! Christa wanted to get a look at them before all the guests arrived.

This little angel is Sophia, Christa's flower girl. She is the daughter of a couple that go to church in Granada. She did such a fabulous job as the flower girl. Apparently her mommy had prepped her well! ;)
When we were in the nursery waiting for the ceremony to start, I played a game with Sophia, and made her giggle...it was so cute!!! She was just adorable! I also noticed that she was chewing some gum, but figured that her mom would take it away from her before the ceremony began. Well, after Sophia walked down the aisle (her older brother was the ring bearer) spreading the flower pedals along the way, she got to the end and turned around and held her empty little basket up so everyone can see that she 'did it!' It was so cute!!! Then, she came and sat in her designated spot at my feet. After Christa and her dad came down the aisle, I felt a little hand tapping my skirt. I looked down just for a moment to say 'no' to Sophia, thinking that she just wanted me to play with her again. I didn't want her to start giggling uncontrollably in the middle of "Who gives this woman..."! Then, I felt the tapping again. This time, I noticed that Sophia was holding her open hand up towards me...and it was covered with gum!!! I reached down to take it off, and thankfully the gum was not too sticky. :P I put it inside her basket and told her not to touch it. She was very well-behaved, so I wasn't too worried about that! A little while later, I looked down and she was fast asleep!

We (the VoP) have an old tradition of singing "White Christmas" in the church's ladies' bathroom with Mrs. Clay. We do it in the bathroom because the acoustics are so fun and echo-ey. :) So, Christa wanted to sing it at the reception...except we skipped the bathroom part and just did it in the reception hall! ;)

By the time the wedding was over, it had started snowing out!

Christa, I am so excited for you as you begin your married life! You and Dan make a wonderful couple! Your wedding was absolutely perfect, and I was thrilled to be a part of it! Love you!

Here are a few more pictures from the wedding:
