Christmastime in Iowa

I know, it's a little ridiculous that it's already the 10th of January and I'm still blogging about Christmas! There's just so much that happened over Christmas with Christa's wedding and Kaden's arrival, along with all the 'normal' festivities, that I couldn't bear to leave anything out! So, here goes yet another post about Christmastime! ;)

We had such a fun visit with Jordan's family while we were in Iowa! As I mentioned before, we spent Saturday at the hospital with Jason, Julia, and Kaden and the rest of my family. While we were there, a blizzard was whipping up outside, and we had quite an adventure driving out to Jordan's house! Consequently, we were snowed in for the next couple days. That was a mixed blessing...I was sad I didn't get to say goodbye to my family before they all left, but I had fun playing games and chatting with the Horak girls! :) On Monday (Christmas Eve), Grandma & Pa came over for supper. Anna Day, Luke's fiance, also came over!

Just hanging out :)

Our scrumptious feast. Jordan was being a pill for the picture. :P

For a joke, Jordan gave Luke a bottle of 'spray-on jeans.' It was so funny!

Christmas Day was beautiful, and since the wind had finally stopped, we were able to spend part of the day outside! By Anna's request, we all got up early (well, sort of early...she wasn't too hard on us...just 8:30) to open presents. Then we enjoyed a delicious breakfast, which is now a two-year-old tradition. (We are trying very hard to establish some good traditions in the Horak household, right Mom?! Heehee! ;) Jordan is sort a hindrance in our endeavor, but I think we're on the right track to getting some good traditions established.) In the afternoon, Jordan, Grant, Dad, Anna, and I went outside for some snow fun. Jordan and Grant kept themselves entertained by riding Grant's quad around. When they got tired of constantly trying to get the quad 'unstuck' from the snow, they switched to hunting a poor unfortunate rabbit that had managed to make itself seen by them! In the meantime, Dad hooked a sled up to his 4-wheeler and gave us a ride! The wind had made the snow really pretty hard on top, so it was perfect for our purposes! We rode for a really long time...and got dumped several times! It was so fun! Although, I'll admit, I was pretty sore for a couple days after that! :D After our sled ride, the sun had started making the snow a little more wet, so Anna and I made a snowman! It was such fun afternoon!!

Anna really wanted to get her ears pierced this year. She was having a really hard time convincing her dad, so Luke gave her a pair of butterfly earrings for Christmas with a note that said "Good luck." :) The next day we made a trip to the mall and got Anna's ears pierced! Even Grandma & Pa came out for extra moral support. Anna was so brave, and she looks really cute with her earrings in! Just a few more weeks and then she can wear the butterfly earrings! :)

The happy girl with her sister, grandma, and mom. :)

After getting her ears pierced, Anna wanted to take a ride on the escalator and elevator. What better person to ride escalators and elevators with than Pa?!

Here's Anna taking one last ride down the escalator.

Anna & I at Maurices while Andria was trying on boots. We girls had fun shopping together! I found out that Andria is not very decisive when it comes to picking out clothes! Haha! (I had a lot of fun, though, Andria! I'm glad we got to go shopping together!)

Miss you guys and can't wait for our next visit for Luke's WEDDING!!! :) Love you all!
