The Big News!

We are so amazed at how God constantly cares for us and provides for our needs!

Jordan got a job!

Things have been so busy the last few weeks...I kept intending to blog a post asking you all to pray for us as Jordan was hunting for a job. There were so many things that we didn't know: where Jordan would work, how much he would make - both factors would affect where in the area we would look for housing and what kind of housing we would be able to afford - and then there was the huge when question. Basically all those questions were answered in a matter of 35 minutes yesterday! Jordan will be working for a company called LifeLine in Des Moines, IA. LifeLine is basically a counseling service to troubled teenagers. The 'counselors' (Jordan will be one of them!) work consistently with the kids and their families as long as they stay in the program. There is no specific curriculum for the counselors to use, so Jordan will have a lot of freedom in that area (pray for wisdom!). The company is secular, but will hopefully be a great tool to make an impact on these kids and their families and eventually lead them to Christ!

So, now the when, where, and how questions. The area that Jordan will be working in is southern Des Moines. One of our good friends (who also referred us to the position), Ben, is already working in that area, so we are excited that they can sort of work alongside one another. It is a full-time job, but the hours are extremely flexible since the counselors get to schedule all their own appointments with their 'cases.' That of course is awesome for our situation since Jordan is planning to begin seminary at Faith Baptist this fall. They want Jordan to begin working there on June 2nd. So, that means we are going to be moving in about 2 weeks!!! Yikes! We have so much to do...it really is going to be a crazy time! Not only do we have to pack up and move (I have not really gotten much done in the packing department!), but we also need to find a place to move to (probably an apartment), train in replacements at our jobs here (please pray that we can find a replacement to take my job!), hopefully purchase a second car, and say goodbye to all our dear friends and church family here! It is so weird to go from not knowing when we'll move (we kept saying we probably wouldn't move until mid-July) to suddenly planning to move in 2 weeks! That means just 2 more Sundays at our church! :( All the "We should have...'s" come flooding into my mind. Oh well. God knows best, and He has definitely blessed us beyond measure by providing this job! How can I complain about the insanity that we face over the next couple weeks!? ;)

As to how it happened.... Well, at Luke's wedding last month, Jordan was talking to Ben about his need to find a job before we moved. Ben told him about LifeLine (where he is working), and honestly, it just seemed too good to be true! A job that was that flexible, yet paid enough to take good care of us?! At that point, we were mentally preparing ourselves for Jordan to have to take a 3rd-shift type of job in order to have the flexibility he would need in order to take classes. We were dreading that situation, to say the least! Ben told Jordan that LifeLine was going to be hiring soon, so Jordan put together a resume and sent it off. We waited. And waited. And. Waited. :P It seemed like forever to us, but like Jordan said, they weren't in nearly as big of a hurry as we were! I personally had started to give up on the idea until last Monday when Jordan's phone rang as we were walking back from lunch. It was THEM! They wanted to schedule an interview! Since we live 8 hours from Des Moines right now, Jordan wanted to make certain that it would be worth the drive down there. The lady on the phone assured him that we had a very good chance at the job...out of 80 applicants only 8 were going to be interviewed to fill 4 positions! Needless to say, we decided to make the trip. We left on Tuesday morning and spent the evening with Jordan's family in the Cedar Rapids area. Luke & Anna made the trip over as well, so we had a good time with the family all together! :) Wednesday morning we had to get up early to make it to Des Moines in time for Jordan's interview with The Owners. (From day one, "The Owners" is all that we heard about...no names, just "The Owners" to refer to the men who run the company. Jordan met The Owners in his interview, so now we know their names, but we both got such a kick out of everyone simply calling them The Owners, that it has pretty much stuck for us too! So now you know, when I say The Owners, it's the gentlemen that Jordan will be working for.) ;) The interview went really well, and much to our surprise, they offered Jordan the job on the spot. I totally agree with someone else's comment made yesterday, "Of course they gave him the job! They just had to meet him!" :)

We are so thankful for those of you who have been praying for us! Please don't stop! We will need a lot of wisdom and stamina to get through the next couple of busy weeks!
