Cookout at Doug's

Even though the weathermen had been predicting rain and cold for the whole weekend, we ended up with a decent afternoon after the graduation ceremony. We all took a few hours to 'relax' (for some, that meant playing XBox; for others, napping; and for the rest of us, watching a bona fide chick flick!). After that, we converged upon Doug's house for a cookout!

Perhaps at this point, I should interject some details in case some of you are wondering about "Doug."

Julie's DATING!

More details? Okay. Here's a picture:

His name is Doug H. (abbreviated to protect the guilty) and he's a student at Maranatha with one more semester to go. He spent some time in the Marines before coming to Maranatha, so he is a little behind the normal 'timeline.' He and his brother own a house in Watertown, and ever-so-generously offered to let JaJuKa and Jordan & I stay there for the weekend! It was absolutely wonderful to have a house to stay in rather than a hotel room! The whole family spent most of the day there on Friday, and it was just such a huge blessing! Oh, and one more thing...we've nicknamed him Junior so that he would fit in with all the "J's" in our family, and since he really is a "Junior" it works out really well. ;)

Now, where was I? Oh, yeah, the cookout! Very fun! :) Lots of good food, and good conversation! Doug's parents and brother were there and Jessica & Matt Asire (Jessica was Julie's roommate in college) and Jessica's parents. The boys mostly played catch in the yard with each other while we girls talked and played with Kaden. We did other things too, but those were the main things. ;) Later in the evening, we played Mario Kart on Jason's Wii and that was really fun! We even got Mom & Grandma to try it!

Well, here's some more pictures from our cookout:

If you couldn't tell, it was
really windy out!

(I thought this picture turned out really cute! You girls can "steal" it if you want to!!) ;)

The Graduation Cakes
We made Julie do the handwriting on her own cake since she's the best at it! Haha!

We got Julie to tell us about some of the things she does with the kids in her special ed. class. She told us about this teaching tool called "Jolly Phonics" that uses little songs and motions to teach the sounds of the alphabet. In this video she uses Jolly Phonics to spell out my name:
