Mom's Birthday Surprise

All of us kids converged upon Granada this past weekend to celebrate Mom's birthday. This being a particularly 'special' birthday for Mom, we kids decided to make it as memorable as possible. Jason came up with the idea to rent a boat for a day at Lake Okoboji in Iowa! When we were kids, our family went to Okoboji nearly ever Saturday to spend the day on the lake with our boat. We would ski, tube, swim, and just boat around all day long! The drive was about 45 minutes, so it wasn't too bad. It was definitely one of our favorite family activities! I have so many wonderful memories of boating! After Dad died, we had to sell the boat, and I think we all were sad to see that chapter of our lives come to a close. So it was really fun to be back out on the lake as a family and to do all the old things we loved to do so much! I especially loved being able to share that time with Jordan! It was such a fun day!!! I have lots of pictures (of course), but they are on Jordan's computer (which he took with him today), so I probably won't be able to post those until tomorrow night at the earliest!

But I do have a video that I took of Mom on Saturday morning as we surprised her! We didn't tell her what we were planning to do on Saturday, so she was completely clueless going into the day. We told her that we were going to have a picnic lunch on Saturday (which was true) and that we were going to get in the lake and swim a little (which was also true...we just didn't specify which lake!). So, after much coaching, we managed to get her in the car with all the things she needed. She figured out we were going to Okoboji about half-way there, but had no idea that we were going to have a boat there! When we first arrived, we even had her thinking we were just going to have a paddle boat! Hahaha! Anyway, I'll let you see it for yourself:
