Bret's Birthday Party

Because of Jordan's work schedule, we postponed the celebrating of Bret's birthday until Monday.  We had a pretty low-key morning, as Jordan had to take Polly to be bred that morning.  (Side note:  We're expecting puppies the end of APRIL!!!)  So, during naptime, we pulled out Bret's birthday present and got it set up in the living room.  I had found a Black & Decker kids' tool bench on Craigslist for literally a quarter of the cost!  In perfect condition!  We covered it up with a blanket and waited for the Bretster to wake up.  I have to admit that I wondered if it would be something he'd be able to figure out and play with right away or if it would be "to old" for him and he'd have to "grow into" it.

When Bret woke up, we had him "open" his present.  He was in complete awe!  He is just the sweetest little guy, and always gives such good reactions whenever you give him anything!  ;)  Jordan started showing him how everything worked, and Bret caught on so quickly!  Serena obviously enjoyed it, too!  ;)

 After the kids had played with the tool bench for quite a while, Jordan took Bret on an 'adventure' for a couple hours while Serena and I worked on making cupcakes.  We had so much fun!  Serena was helpful and hilarious and MESSY!  She was really good not to do any finger-licking or dipping during the mixing process, so when it was all done, I let her have at the bowls, spatulas, and beaters.  When she was finally finished, I took her into the bathroom to wash up.  She didn't understand why I wanted her to wash her face until I showed her her reflection in the mirror.  She looked so confused and asked me what was on her face???  Heehee!

Jordan & Bret came back for us and we all went out to supper and then to the mall to 'walk off' our big meal.  ;)  When we got home, we sang to Bret, let him blow out a candle, and ate cupcakes!  :)
