For the past week, Bret has been asking me questions about what it means when Jesus is the Ruler of your life. This summer, "making Jesus the Ruler of your life" is a terminology that Bret has picked up from the Sunday School program at our church. He knows that Serena "became a part of God's family" last year, and Bret has been connecting the dots between that and what he's been learning in class, as well as the Bible stories we read regularly from our Jesus Storybook Bible and The Big Picture Bible.
Finally, yesterday, Bret came in from playing outside and told me he wanted to make Jesus the Ruler of his life. I did my best to ask him just a couple of simple questions to make sure we both had a good understanding of what this decision meant for Bret, including asking forgiveness for his sinfulness and trusting Jesus to save him. Then, we talked about how Bret should pray and talk to God about making Jesus the Ruler of his life. Bret was very sweet and trusting throughout, and his prayer oh-so-earnest. What an amazing thing to be a part of moments like that in the lives of my own precious children!
As soon as Jordan came home from work, Bret pounced on him with his big news! He could hardly wait to then tell his teachers on Sunday, who also celebrated enthusiastically with him! Praise God for His tender mercies in saving little children!
