Serena's 6th birthday was greatly anticipated and filled with delight! She decided to wait a couple of days to celebrate so that Grandma, Grandpa, and Auntie Anna could be there. One thing that she really had her heart set on was having a "Cottage Cheese Cake," which she had written a recipe for several months earlier (and I had conveniently misplaced during the move!). I did my very best to come up with a cake that included as many ingredients from her recipe as possible and called it a "Cottage Cheese Cake." She was pleased as could be with it, and wants EVERYONE in the WORLD to have the recipe! ;)
Cody stole the show for a while on Serena's birthday as he learned to ride a bike. He took to it so quickly! I will always be a huge advocate of the balance bike after watching Bret and now Cody learn to ride a bike after riding the balance bike! Cody was still over a month from his third birthday when he learned! He needed some help for the first couple passes down the driveway, but before long, he was zooming around and even figured out how to start off all by himself! Bret was the best big brother he could possibly be, running along with Cody and cheering him enthusiastically, never begrudging Cody the use of his bike or all the attention he was getting!
The kids thoroughly enjoyed their day playing with Grandma & Auntie Anna! It was pretty hot, so Grandma finally convinced them to camp out in the shade! ;)
Grandpa brought some sweet corn along from Iowa, and the kids were beyond excited about it! They LOVE sweet corn, and helping with the shucking seemed like a very important job!
Serena got a purse from Grammie, and I took a video of her opening it. She loved it so much!
