Late-Night Potty Trips

Because night-time dryness is still a bit of a struggle for Serena, I often sneak into her room and take her to the potty one last time before Jordan & I head to bed.  I actually kind of enjoy these late-night potty trips!  I scoop her warm, sleeping little body out of her bed, and she just snuggles against me, obviously willing herself to stay asleep. I get her into the bathroom and as I set her down, I have to keep a hand on her so she doesn't fall over.  She usually keeps her eyes closed or half-closed.  Sometimes, she'll say, "What do I have to do?"  Another time, she started scratching her back-side after I got her undies down and before getting on the potty.  I asked her what she was doing and she said, "I just have an itch on my big fat bottom."  I just about died laughing at that one!  The only time I can think of that she would have ever heard that expression is when I'm changing Cody's diaper...maybe???  Hahaha!

So, last night, I brought her into the bathroom and Jordan was brushing his teeth.  He loves to tease her, and really, when she's all sweet and groggy like that, she's pretty irresistible!  He started in talking to me about putting the elephant downstairs.  "Don't worry, I got it to fit in the kennel.  It kept sticking its trunk out the door, but I finally managed to get it shut in.  And the giraffe is in the basement too.  Had a hard time getting that long neck down the stairs, but it's in now."  It was hilarious watching Serena try to process what she was hearing through the fog in her brain!  Finally, she just looked at me and said, "Daddy is teasing you, right, Mommy?"

WE tried that with Carson - and it was not near as peaceful as you describe. It was screaming and fits and Richard and I stressed out trying to get him to calm down - we finally gave up again and put a pull up back on him for a few more months. He was miserable and we were miserable!
