Weekend at Home

This past weekend we were finally able to make the long-anticipated trip back home to Minnesota. I don't even know how to tell you just how wonderful it was to be home again with the whole family there! I don't have very many pictures from the weekend, because I kept asking Jess and Julie to send me their pictures whenever they took them, but they haven't sent them yet, so I'll just post these and hopefully have more to post later (*hint, hint girls!!!).

Jordan, Jessica, Laura, and I all crammed ourselves into the little red car (each of us was only allowed to bring one small bag) and started the trip home around 5pm Thursday night. When we reached Oshkosh, we picked up Julie (Yes, you read that right! We actually managed to squish 5 people in there!) and continued on our way. We dropped Laura off around 12:30 and got home around 1. On Friday we spent the day visiting friends and that evening Jason and Julia arrived from Iowa. Jason and Jordan played xbox till 1 or so while we girls watched wedding videos and other miscellaneous videos. :) Then on Saturday Julie and I went out for muffins at Perkins for breakfast (Jess had already gone with Charity) , and then we spent most of the day in Mankato SHOPPING!!!!! :D And Christa (my best friend from back home) showed up at the mall to surprise me! It was SO wonderful to be able to see her, because I thought I wasn't going to be able to see her until New Years! Jordan and Jason spent the day at home playing xbox and doing some things around the house for Mom. They drove up to Mankato later in the afternoon and we all met at Applebees for supper (mmmmm...one of my all-time favorites!) where Jessica tipped off the waitress that it was Jordan's birthday, so he got a cool balloon and the wait-staff sang to him and gave him an ice cream sundae. :) When we got home, I killed Jason and Jordan in a game of Halo and then we ate birthday cake and Jordan and I got to unwrap birthday presents (YAY!) -- thank you everyone! :) Sunday morning was spent at church and then we had a fellowship dinner there for lunch. Unfortunately, we all had to head back to Northland around 2. :( We dropped Julie off in Oshkosh again where some friends were waiting to give her a ride back to Maranatha and then the rest of us drove the rest of the way up to Northland. I think we got back around 10, so it wasn't too late. I'm still so tired, though! Mom kept us all up way to late! ;)

Highlights:
  • Jessica and Jordan fighting all the way to Oshkosh
  • How quiet it was in the car when the girls finally popped in a movie for a while ;)
  • The sight of the "Exit 107" sign
  • The smell of 'home'
  • The pretty cat that....drooled?!
  • Trying to give Jordan his birthday spankings
  • Jordan dropping his taco
  • Watching Jason dance on his honeymoon video (hahahahahaa!!)
  • Julie's 'peacock' shirt
  • My attempt at pumping gas (let's just say it's a good thing Julie was there!)
  • Christa scaring...uh, I mean, surprising me
  • "Selah" (need I say more?)
  • Julia's attempt to drink milk and laugh at the same time (yeah, you know what happened!)
  • Laughing so hard that our sides hurt and we could hardly breathe
  • Seeing my church family again
  • Playing the piano for Jess and Julie to sing
  • Stuffing the car trunk full and then Jordan accusing Julie of packing too much
  • Jess and Laura drinking energy drinks and not feeling the effects until 2 hours later (AAHHH!)
Julie: DON'T FORGET TO SEND ME PICTURES!
