Doggie Update

Toward the end of July, we expanded our collection of dogs.  This was something we had decided to do as a step toward starting our own kennel of English Cocker Spaniels.  For a while now, Jordan & I have been talking/dreaming about doing this; and now we are finally in a place that we are able to make it a reality!  We are very excited about breeding and training these dogs that we have grown to love so much!  Besides the fact that it includes elements Jordan especially loves (the outdoors, hunting, and dogs), it is also an endeavor that can involve our whole family.

So, let me introduce you to our new dogs!

Gus & Mars the day Jordan brought them home.  Mars is a full brother to Rocky, and Gus is a half brother.

Polly - Rocky & Mars' dam.  She is a very tiny and tenacious dog, barely bigger than the 3-month-old pups!

Danni - Rocky & Mars' sire.  He is a really big, sweet dog (or as Jordan calls him, a galoot!)

Danni

I took this one to demonstrate the size difference between Danni and Polly.  They are quite the odd couple!

Sweet Mars.  He is so biddable and loving!

Gus-gus.  He's very snoopy and cuddly.

Jordan with Gus & Mars shortly after we got them.  Gus has always been significantly larger than Mars even though he's younger.  Mars has a very lanky build while Gus has a big head and big paws.  We think Gus is going to take after Danni and that Mars is going to be a lot like Rocky.

Jordan with Mars & Gus 2 months later.  Both puppies are doing really well with some basic training.  Mars especially seems like a really great dog, though Gus will definitely be an excellent hunter as well.  We have sold Mars and he'll be leaving us at the end of October.  I'm trying not to get too attached, but it's hard because Mars has been my favorite all along!  ;)  We're trying to find a buyer for Gus right now, but in the meantime just getting him well on his way to being the best dog he can be both in the field and at home!
